Ho Chi Minh City Investment Mart 2005 First Ever in Vietnam

This is the first time ever, that Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s economic hub – has organized an investment mart calling for foreign investment into the city. The mart, entitled “Ho Chi Minh City Investment Mart 2005”, hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and organized by the Investment and trade Promotion Center (ITPC) and the Department of Planning & Investment of the City, will take place at New World Hotel (HCMC) during the two days November, 8^th and 9^th, 2005.

 

According to Madame Vu Kim Hanh, Director of ITPC, HCMC Investment Mart 2005 will not only be the first ever investment mart of its kinds in Vietnam but will present many “firsts” as well.

 

Ho Chi Minh City has long been known as the economic hub of the country. With a population of over 6.5 million people, HCMC accounts for one fifth of Vietnam’s GDP. This is the first time that HCMC will publicly and extensively introduce projects calling for foreign investment under one roof, form both the state and private sectors.

 

Presented at the Mart will be over 120 projects from four major groups: Infrastructure & Manufacturing, New Urban Development, High tech and Services. A number of the projects among them will be introduced to the general public for the first time, including projects already underway but calling for more investment capital.

 

Besides the detailed description of projects calling for investment, projects owners/holders will be there to answer inquiries from potential investors relating to their specific projects during the two days of the Mart.

 

Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Chairman of the People’s Committee believes that these newly introduced projects will surely attract great attention from investors interested in urban mass transit systems, car parking lost, hi tech project, health care and shopping centers.

 

Perhaps some projects have previously invited investment separately, but having all the projects as well as projects owners/holders under one roof like this has shown the city’s authorities efforts to assist investors to have easier access to available information. “You can shop around. Ho Chi Minh City’s relevant authorities will be in site to answer all your questions about licensing, land, labor and other related issues”, Mr. Hai said. Workshops paneled by project owners and economic consultants will hold to provide a full picture.
