Vietnam’s transport sector is planning to start to build about 264 km of the Hanoi-Lao Cai Expressway at total cost of over VND16,313 trillion (US$1,03 billion) as of June of next year.
According to a source from the Transportation Designing Corp, the Corp will design and build the expressway, which is regarded as the important traffic artery and part of the Kumning-Haiphong road corridor, and is hoped to boost the socioeconomic development in the Mekong sub-region and help Vietnam’s economy take off in the future.
The construction of the traffic work is scheduled to be kicked off in June next year and completed in 2010. The Road will be located along the Red River in accordance with the road planning approved by the government of Vietnam with designed speed of 80-100 km/h.
The investments will stem from the ODA loans and state budgets. Roughly VND10,000 trillion (about $629 billion) will be mobilized during the first phase.
The technical design of the road is expected to be conducted this year, the procurement is planned to be executed early next year.
