The southern province of Tay Ninh’s People Committee held a conference to call investment into 34 projects from now to 2010.
Among those, many projects have investment capital over US$10 million, like an export fruit processing plant, a hi-tech agriculture zone, an automobile tire factory, a hydropower plant, Ma Thien Lanh-Nui Ba Den eco-tourism resort, Dau Tieng tourism complex and Tram Vang Industrial Park.
Tay Ninh, located in southern key economic region, boasts abundant labor potential, trans-Asia road and two international border gate economic zones of Moc Bai and Xa Mat.
In the first quarter of this year, the province licensed seven foreign-invested projects capitalized at US$12.5 million, up 4.4 per cent on-year and allowed four existing ones to raise their capital by US$13.7 million.
At present, Tay Ninh has 136 foreign-owned projects with a total capital of US$511.7 million, up to 93 projects worth US$245 million are in Trang Bang Industrial Park.
As many as 1,646 domestic enterprises with a combined registered capital of VND4.6 trillion (US$287.5 million) have been licensed to operate in the locality. (Liberated Saigon, The People)
