Lang Son provincial authorities approved Vietnam Machinery Installation & Construction Joint Stock Company No 69-2 (Lilama 69-2)’s project building biggest hydroelectric plant in the province on July 10, local media reported.

The 15-MW Su Pan 1 hydropower plant, located in Hung Viet commune, Trang Dinh district, costs VND290 billion (US$18.13 million) in total.

Lilama 69-2 director Nguyen Huu Thanh said that the company will start the project in the fourth quarter 2007 and expects to operate the plant in early 2009.

The project is the first of its kind to be carried out by a Lilama subordinate.

Vietnam, now heavily reliant on hydroelectricity, will shift its energy source structure with priority given to thermal power sources after 2010. (Investment)
