Intimex Import Export Joint Stock Company (Intimex Hochiminh) has undergone over ten years of development, creating a firm position on the market. Its prestige and trademark have been gradually affirmed in the domestic and international markets. Currently, Intimex has trade relations with more than 70 countries and territories in the world.

Intimex Hochiminh is a prestigious import and export business, with major exports such as coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, maize, and cassava; and major imports such as Electrolux household appliances, steel, asbestos, plastic, grain, lorries, cattle food, office equipment, security and fire alarms, PVC, bulbs and food. The company has set up branches in Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Buon Ma Thuot, Nha Trang and Hanoi where there is a big supply of coffee, pepper, maize and cassava. This is an advantage for purchasing and processing high-quality agriculture products for export. In addition, the firm plans to build and develop a supermarket in Tay Ninh Town of Buon Ma Thuot City. Especially, the branch in Tay Ninh is now the official distributor of commodities such as Vinamilk milk, Coke, Vissan food, Unif noodles, Ha Long canned food, Tam Phuong fish sauce, and Brazil chicken wings. It gains big revenue annually and plans to expand to the Cambodian market.

Although facing many difficulties in the transformation from a state-owned company to a joint stock company, the firm’s board of directors has kept a close eye on the market and with the great effort of the staff, it has seen remarkable growth. In 2006, Intimex Hochiminh posted import and export turnover of US$191.066 million (an increase of US$85.440 million on year), and gained revenue of VND3,567 billion (US$222.9 million), up VND1,594 billion against 2005. In the first nine months of this year alone, the company’s export and import turnover was US$213.245 million, finishing 80.5 per cent of the full-year target, and its total revenue was VND3,825 billion (US$239.1 million), accounting for 85 per cent of the yearly target.

Mr Do Ha Nam, Intimex Hochiminh general director said, “Since privatisation, the company has had rapid growth three times that of the previous period. The company has a stable domestic and foreign customer base, and is always supported and provided with favourable conditions by provincial authorities and localities. We have a young and active staff, along with abundant material sources. We will strive to maintain this trademark.”
