Tien Timber Group kicked off the construction on a warehouse to store wooden furniture and timbers in southern Binh Duong province on July 17.

The VND70 billion (US$4.38 million) warehouse, covering 7.2 ha in Nam Tan Uyen Industrial Zone, is fitted up with Winsor heating technology and designed to have annual storage of 20,000 containers.

This is the first wooden furniture warehouse in Vietnam, installed with advanced heating technology, which reduces timber drying time by one-third to only 24 hours or less.

Binh Duong is now the biggest wooden furniture maker in Vietnam, accounting for 40 per cent of the country’s annual woodwork export earnings.

The province is now home to 369 wood processors, including 194 foreign-invested companies which have poured more than US$700 million into the wood industry.

In the first half of this year, the province fetched more than US$500 million from wooden furniture exports, up 36 per cent on year. (Vietnam & World Economy, Liberated Saigon)
