Taiwanese electric and machinery Teco Group plans to lease 50 hectares of land in southern Binh Duong province for its electronic parts and refrigerator plant, estimated to cost US$50 million, Vietnam News Agency reports.
Theodore Mao-Xiong Huang said, during his visit to the province’s My Phuoc industrial zone, that the project was expected to be operational by March 2008.
He called My Phuoc industrial zone a very modern and investment friendly facility.
Huang was leading a Taiwanese business delegation on a fact-finding mission to the province, which is located next to the southern business hub Ho Chi Minh City and is one of the most developed provinces in Vietnam.
The delegation members included businesspeople in the fields of trade, banking and financial services, manufacturing software, and construction.
As of March 22 this year, Taiwan ranked the 3rd after Singapore and South Korea among countries and territories investing in Vietnam, with 1,575 projects capitalized at US$8.35 billion. (VNA, Thanh Nien Online)
