Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has pledged that Vietnam would create the most favorable conditions for Canadian investors to do business and expand their operation in the country.
Doan made the affirmation while attending a Vietnam-Canada Business Forum held in Toronto October 20 on the occasion of her visit to Canada.
The forum, co-organized the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Embassy of Vietnam, and the Toronto City Council, attracted representatives from 40 Canadian leading businesses and 30 firms of Vietnam.
The vice president expressed her pleasure in economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Canada, hoping that the two sides’ business circles would continue their great contribution to the two nations’ friendship and bilateral cooperation.
The two-way trade between Vietnam and Canada this year is estimated to exceed the US$1 billion for the first time.
Canadian businesses have to date invested US$4.7 billion in a number of projects in Vietnam, including a US$4.2 billion sea resort in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, which is funded by the Asian Coast Development Ltd.
On the same day, Doan delivered a speech at the ceremony marking the 35th diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Canada, which was hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy and the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association.
She also met with Toronto Mayor David Miller and the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, David C. Onley. (VNA, New Hanoi)
