The Thang Long cement plant in northern Quang Ninh province Nov 8 started producing first clinker after nearly 30 months under construction, state media reported.
The cement plant has a capacity of 2.3 million tons of clinker a year, or 2.5 million tons of cement a year.
Thang Long Cement Joint Stock Company invested VND5.4 trillion (US$327.27 million) to build the plant.
Thang Long cement will be sold on the market late this year.
Thang Long Cement Joint Stock Company was set up by three founders, namely Vietnam Machinery Installation Group (Lilama) (53 per cent), Lilama Joint Stock Company 69-3 (4 per cent) and Hanoi General Export-Import Company (47 per cent). (Pioneer)
