Impressive growth
After 10 years of operation, from a small company, VID Group has developed into a group with eight member companies operating in industrial zone investment and development. The group’s revenue and tax payment have increased year after year. The revenue reached VND363.8 billion in 2006, VND396.6 billion in 2007 and VND366.8 billion in the first nine months of 2008. The group expects to pay VND5.5 billion in 2008.
Additionally, VID Group also made miracles in attracting investment capital, especially foreign direct investment (FDI). To date, VID Group-invested industrial zones have attracted more than 300 enterprises, including 126 foreign-invested firms from a variety of countries like Japan, the US, South Korea, China, Denmark and Taiwan. FDI projects have total investment capital of US$1.6 billion.
Great contributions
In Pho Noi Industrial Park B (Hung Yen Province), VID Group leased the land to Chinese motorbike manufacturer Lifan. With stable production operations, Lifan Group pays more than VND100 billion worth of tax a year, which accounts for 10 per cent of the provincial tax collection, and creates jobs for nearly 2,000 local labourers.
In three industrial zones of Nam Sach, Phuc Dien and Tan Truong (Hai Duong Province), the group has attracted titanic domestic and international investors like Crystal Garment and Textile Group, Hai Vina Garment Company (Nam Sach), Hitachi Group and IRISO Corporation (Tan Truong Industrial Park).
Especially, in former Ha Tay Province, Phung Xa - Quoc Oai Industrial Complex has attracted foreign investors after it was transferred to VID Group. It housed 14 investors with a total capital of US$500 million plus. Japan’s electronics group MEIKO invests up to US$300 million to manufacture electronic boards and parts. Taiwan’s electronics firm Young Fast invested US$100 million in the complex. In 2007, Ha Tay was the third largest recipient of foreign capital and made a long jump in the provincial competitiveness index (PCI).
In Ha Nam Province, when VID Group invested in Dong Van Industrial Park II, seven domestic and international investors reserved their places. Remarkably, Japan’s Sumitomo Wiring System Group registered to invest US$80 million.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong, President of VID Group, said: “When investors enter VID Group-invested industrial zones, they will be supported to carry out investment procedures like free legal consultancy, investment certificate application and related documents (especially for foreign investors).”
