After nearly 16 years of operation, Can Tho Sugar Joint Stock Company (CASUCO) has become a leading sugar company in Mekong Delta region. The firm has also asserted its value and calibre in the process of international integration.
Since its inception, CASUCO is always an outperforming sugar company in the Mekong Delta region. Currently, it has two sugar mills, namely Vi Thanh and Phung Hiep, both of which have a daily processing capacity of 6,500 tonnes. In 2011, the company exceeded annual business targets, with net profit in excess of the plan by 50 percent. In the year to date, it has fulfilled two thirds of business plans set for 2012.
By applying ISO 9001:2008 quality management standard, ISO 14001:2004 environment management standard, ISO 22000:2005 food safety management standard, CASUCO’s product quality is always guaranteed. Since 2004, the company has been annually voted the Vietnam High Quality Goods by consumers. The firm was also honourably awarded the Vietnam National Quality Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology and Vietnam Gold Star Award. Its white refined sugar branded Con Kien and Kim Cuong are dominating the Mekong Delta market, Ho Chi Minh City and southeast region.
With its efforts, CASUCO has a collection of trophies and awards over 16 years of operation. In 2010, on the occasion of its 15th founding anniversary activities, the Can Tho Sugar Joint Stock Company was bestowed the Third-grade Labour Order by the State President. This achievement is resulted from ingenious leadership of the management board, dynamism and creativity of managers and workers. Besides, CASUCO has actively built up its input material areas. This is a two-way benefit as farmers have incomes and the company has inputs for its two mills. CASUCO has formed association with other peers like Tay Nam Sugar Joint Stock Company, Ben Tre Sugar Joint Stock Company, Soc Trang Sugar Joint Stock Company, etc. to build productive material zones.
The company also pays great attention to social security and welfare, considering it an integral part of business activities. In 2011, it built houses for unlucky people, granted scholarships for outperforming students, and donated more than 3,000 gifts worth over VND1 billion to poor people on the occasion of New Year.
Besides, the company continuously takes care of spiritual and material life of its nearly 1,000 employees, aiming to strengthen their attachment to the company and devotion to its development. With growing incomes, workers feel more secure in their lives when they work for the company. Apart from sugar production, CASUCO has also expanded its business operations to tourism, mechanical engineering, electricity and others. The new businesses have generated initial success.
All the successes that CASUCO has striven for will be a platform and a great encouragement for its leaders and employees to continue with the long road ahead. With community-oriented operation, Can Tho Sugar Joint Stock Company will continue to be a top business brand in Hau Giang province.
