In 1992, when Ninh Thuan was re-established, it had less than 500 km of roads, mainly concentrated in the downtown of Phan Rang - Thap Cham City. After three decades, the province's transportation network system has developed quite comprehensively to drive economic growth.

In the coming time, Ninh Thuan province commits to proactively spearheading comprehensive initiatives for the management and maintenance of its critical traffic infrastructure

Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Director of the Department of Transport, Ninh Thuan province said: “Traffic infrastructure management and maintenance is a remarkable achievement of the transport sector. To date, the province has completed the Thanh Son Airport Plan for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050, and is calling for investment fund in Ca Na Port - Phase 2 and Ca Na Inland Container Depot. At the same time, the sector advised the Provincial People's Committee to give opinions to the Pre-feasibility Study Report on the high-speed North - South railway project on the Ninh Thuan section and the Thap Cham - Da Lat railway restoration and renovation project at the request of the Ministry of Transport.”

The transport sector also fostered coordination with relevant agencies to carry out the National Target Program for Socioeconomic Development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021 - 2030 period, with the first phase (from 2021 to 2025) in Ninh Thuan province, and the National Target Program on New Rural Development; and gave comments on drafts, projects, planning projects and land-use plans launched by other agencies. It directed automobile transport firms to respect traffic order and safety and improve the quality of transport services; administered their regulatory compliance; regularly disseminated legal provisions on anticorruption, thrift practice and waste prevention; and implemented good corruption resistance solutions.

Besides, the sector paid attention to administrative procedure reform; reviewed, reduced, and simplified administrative procedures for people, increased support for people and businesses to access and file administrative procedures to the Online Service Portal and receive results via the public postal service.

Regarding the upcoming orientations and tasks, Director Vinh said that the transport sector will actively manage and maintain traffic infrastructure, including Thanh Son Airport Plan in the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050; and resolve petitions and suggestions of people and businesses during the construction process of the Eastern North-South Expressway Project on the Ninh Thuan section. At the same time, it will administer transport services, vehicles and drivers, driving test training, and operations of vehicle registration centers. Particularly regarding motor vehicle registration, the sector will continue to meet registration and inspection needs for people and ensure traffic order and safety and load control.

“With its active approach, determination and effort, the sector will also carry out and complete its tasks to ensure smooth traffic and meet people's travel needs, thus helping achieve socioeconomic development tasks, national defense and security of the province,” he emphasized.
