The Kien Giang Trade Promotion Centre (KITRA) underwent several difficulties over the first months of this year due to its mergence into the provincial Service of Trade from the provincial People’s Committee. Despite these challenges, the KITRA has since operated effectively.
Since early May this year, KITRA has opened several short-term training courses on effective sales skills, hotel reception and leaders. In the context that Vietnam is accelerating its economic integration into the world arena, several courses on trade promotion were held by the KITRA in cooperation with the National Trade Promotion Department. KITRA has also upgraded its English – Vietnamese website on Trade Promotion, given technical assistance to the Kien Giang Agro-Forestry Processing Company to build its own website, worked out a draft regulation on establishment of a trade promotion fund, and conducted surveys on the trade promotion implementation of some local enterprises.
By the end of this year, KITRA will give more training courses on e-commerce to the local enterprises and hold more international and local trade fairs to boost up exports. The KITRA will further cooperate with both foreign and domestic trade promotion centres with an aim to seek more customers, expand its outlet, and improve the competitiveness of its products.
On the other hands, KITRA has also pushed trademark promotion activities and enterprises’ operation through websites and showrooms. The centre has actively encouraged local enterprises to participate in its training courses, workshops, and seminars in order to give them more access to the application of IT in management. In addition, KITRA has joined hands with the Vietnamese counsellors to boost trade promotion activities in foreign countries in the process of world economic integration.
