The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has given a nod to a master plan to upgrade the southern Ca Mau airport terminal by 2015 which is estimated to cost VND530 billion (US$33.3 million).
The upgrade will include flight zones, technical services, and traffic planning.
When the upgrade is completed in 2015, the airport is expected to handle ATR72 and F70 aircraft and around 200,000 passengers a year.
By 2025 the facility is expected to accommodate the ATR72, F70, and Airbus A320 aircraft and 300,000 passengers a year.
Plans are underway to start a daily Ca Mau-Ho Chi Minh City flight and increase services between Ca Mau and Phu Quoc Island.
