Vietnam-China Int'l Trade Fair to Open in Lao Cai Province

The Vietnam-China International Trade Fair 2007 is going to open in northern Lao Cai province from November 30 to December 5, the largest-ever of its kind so far, said an official of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
 
Deputy minister Nguyen Thanh Bien said that this year’s fair will house around 600 pavilions.
 
The event display many commodities that are strengths of both sides such as agricultural and forest products, seafood, machinery and equipment, construction materials, cars, electric parts, electronics, apparel, footwear, woodworks and art handicraft.
 
Investors are expected to signed deals worth US$100 million at the fair, which is among national trade promotion programs launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in a bid to facilitate local and foreign enterprises to boost their cooperation, particularly the trade and investment collaboration between China’s Yunnan and Vietnam’s Lao Cai province.   
 
During the event, conferences on investment, trade promotion and development of “Two Corridors, One Economic Belt” will be held.
 
The Vietnam-China trade via the Lao Cai international border gate has so far this year reached over US$500 million, up 70 per cent on-year.
 
Main commodities traded between the two sides include steel ingots, fertilizers chemicals, gypsum, seafood, vegetables and fruits.
 
The bilateral trade via the border gate is expected to climb US$700 million this year and one billion dollars in 2008 against US$477 million last year. (Vietnam & World Economy, VietnamNet)
