The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance October 22 decided to raise tax on jet fuel import from zero percent to 5 per cent, the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper reported.
The decision No. 88/2008/QD-BTC was signed by deputy minister Do Hoang Anh who had also agreed to lower tax on imported jet fuel to 0 per cent to ease difficulties on domestic airlines caused by high oil prices.
The new tax will come into effect this November 2.
On Oct 22, oil prices dropped to US$69 a barrel in Singapore market, and US$67.86 a barrel in New York market. (Vietnam Economic Times)
