The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) October 25 launched the Vietnam-Russia business council (VRBC) in a drive to foster cooperation among businesses of the both sides.
The set-up is in conformity with the Vietnamese Government’s comprehensive strategy to promote bilateral cooperation relations.
The council is aimed to help develop cooperation between Vietnamese and Russian businesses in trade and investment, science-technology, tourism and cultural exchanges.
It will also serve as a link between businesses and relevant government agencies, as well as between businesses and Vietnamese diplomatic and commercial agencies abroad.
Currently, Russia is a promising market for Vietnamese exporters, especially seafood businesses, with their seafood exports to the market having increased by 35 per cent on-year to around 120 million so far this year.
Vietnam-Russia bilateral trade is expected to reach between US$2 billion and US$3 billion in 2010, up 1.8-2.7 times against 2005.
