The second Vietnam Airlines International Mountain Climbing Cup was officially launched in Xe Mountain, Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province on November 14, 2008. More than 100 Vietnamese climbers and 29 internationals took part in the competition.
This was a part of a strategy to bring tourism industry into a spearhead economic sector to create a momentum to develop Lao Cai Province. The mountain climbing tournament is one of activities to make Lao Cai the tourist hub in northern Vietnam.
