Vietnam Firms to Build $1.4B Cement IZ in Nghe An Province

Kinh Bac City Development Share Holding Corp. (KBC) and Saigon Tan Ky Company started construction of a cement industrial zone costing $1.4 billion in the limestone-rich province of Nghe An in central Vietnam on May 19.
 
The zone, to be located in Tan Ky district where has an estimated reserve of 2.28 billion tons of limestone, will have a combined capacity of 14 million tons of cement a year, the largest of its kind in Vietnam.
 
Various businesses from Japan, Taiwan and Europe are keen on building cement plants in the zone, the company noted.
 
The zone’s cement products will be supplied to KBC’s projects in Laos and its other projects on constructing industrial zones, urban areas and high-rise buildings.
 
Kinh Bac firm, listed on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, made a net profit of VND261.556 billion ($13.77 million) in the first quarter this year compared to a loss of VND59.92 billion in the same period last year. (www.kinhbaccity.com))
