The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Sept 26 granted “The Friend of Thai Awards 2008” for Saigontourist, the leading Travel Service Company of Vietnam, the Nguoi Dai Bieu Nhan Dan newspaper reported.
The firm was chosen by TAT for this year’s award on account of a 37 per cent increase in the number of Vietnamese tourists and overseas Vietnamese visiting Thailand on its tours in 2007 against the previous year.
The company operates tours to Thailand each day with 25 tourists a tour on average.
In the first eight months of this year, Saigontourist organized trips for more than 250 tourist groups to Thailand, an on-year increase of 20 per cent.
Saigontourist is the first travel agency in Vietnam which organizes weekly tours to Thailand on the five-star Superstar Aquarius Ship.
The Friend of Thai Awards, which was initiated in 1996, is given to international tour operators and airlines. (People’s Deputies)
