Organic Vegetables Get Hanoi's First Registered Trademark

Hanoi's Department for Agriculture and Rural Development is marketing organic vegetable products under the name Bao Ha, the first registered trademark in the city, said Dao Duy Tam Vice Director of the department's Plant Protection Office.

He made the announcement in late August at a conference to review licensing for organic vegetable growers, adding that the establishment of the trademark would create consumer confidence. The trademark was a positive step in organic vegetables production, as it would encourage farmers to meet their responsibilities, he said.

Bao Ha vegetables are grown using a process designed by the Department of Science, Technology and Environment and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technology. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) had provided support for the Plant Protection Office to register the trademark Bao Ha at the National Office of Intellectual Property.
