Dong Nai Customs is one of the two first units of the sector to receive the title Labour Hero. After 10 years of operation in a most dynamic economic environment, Dong Nai Customs have become a reliable partner of the business community.
Dong Nai is located in the Southern key economic region with 17 industrial zones (IZs), the biggest number in a single province. 14 countries and territories have invested in the province such as Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand. The province has 817 enterprises engaging in import-export activities including 379 foreign invested enterprises. The import-export value of the province accounts for nearly 10% that of Vietnam. With a staff of 24 members, the office is under strong pressure from a heavy work load. To improve its efficiency, the office has upgraded management, professional skills and technology. As a result, it has not only ensured better performance but also improved its image among the population and business community.
The successful application of information technology has simplified formalities and facilitated the enterprises. Beside software provided by the central government, Dong Nai Customs Office has developed 10 software programs to increase efficiency and prevent bribery. It is the first unit to develop a website on import-export and customs formalities. It has also applied quality management system ISO 9001:2000.
To improve its performance, the office has upgraded equipment including a camera system and inspection facilities, developed a website and consulting service, and held business meetings and workshops. Mr Le Van Danh, Head of Dong Nai Customs Office said that together with the enforcement of the Customs Law, the office will do its utmost in the interests of the business community and national economy in the process of international economic integration.
