In recent years, the scale of education and training levels in Dong Nai province has expanded. The number school increased from 669 in the 2000-2001 school year to 730 in the 2005-2006 school year. The province has concentrated its investment in building schools, in particular in rural and remote areas in order to reduce the educational gap among localities. So far, all the communes have kindergartens, primary and junior secondary schools. Also, the number of senior secondary schools has increased. Schools and classrooms have been strengthened. Local schools are striving to reach the national standard. In addition, the socialisation of education has been focused as a comprehensive solution for attracting social resources for developing education. Accordingly, local State-owned schools have been on a fast track to development. The regular education centre system has offered many study opportunities for local people, especially workers. The development of schools in many areas has contributed to the improving knowledge of local people and the quality of local human resources.
Apart from expanding schools, the education and training service in Dong Nai province has focused on a new task of renewing the education and training content, methods and programmes to meet new standards. Localities in the province have overcome difficulties due to a lack of teachers. The local education service has concentrated on improving the quality of local teachers.
In order to create favourable conditions in education and training, Dong Nai province has made every effort to improvie learning and teaching equipment. In particular, Dong Nai Department of Education and Training province has promoted the application of information technology into teaching and learning activities initially piloted in some major schools before being replicated in all local schools. So far, the information technology application into learning and teaching activities has become one of the standards for the evaluation of each school and teacher. Electronic materials and audio and video equipment have become popular in lessons for local pupils. The information technology application has become a breakthrough for developing education and training in Dong Nai province, which is among a few pioneering provinces and cities in Vietnam.
