Both the Land and waterway transportation system of An Giang are very accessible, regarded as one its major advantages in its open, development and economic cooperation with domestic and foreign provinces, particularly ASEAN countries through Vinh Xuong international waterway border gate, Tinh Bien international land border gate, Khanh Binh national border gate and other secondary borders such as Vinh Hoi Dong and Bac Dai, An Giang also boasts the My Thoi seaport with an planned upgrade capacity of over 1 million tonnes per year.
An Giang now has two industrial parks in Binh Long and Binh Hoa. In addition, An Giang also has big cultural festivals and nationally ranked historical monuments and tourist spots such as Thoai Ngoc Hau mausoleum, Uncle Ton Shrine, Nui Sam’s Princess Temple, Nui Cam resort, Tuc Dup hill, Tra su indigo forest, Oc Eo relics as well as many other architectural works attracting more than 3 million tourists annually.
Major exports: aquatic products, rice, fruits and vegetables, noodles, garments, footwear and handicrafts.
Imports: chemicals, agricultural and industrial machines and technical infrastructure-developed equipments.
Industry: mainly agricultural and aquatic product processing industry under international quality management systems including ISO, HACCP, SQF.
In particular, An Giang is famous for traditional products such as: Tan Chau silk, dried beef, Chau Doc fish sauce, Cho Thu wooden furniture, Phu Tan glutinous rice cake, and Chau Giang brocade. There are many cultural festivals such as the birthday festival of Nui Sam’s Princess, the Dolta festival, bullfighting, and the CholChhnam Thmay Tet festival celebrated by the Khmer ethnic minority people.
